Six Kohler Co. Kitchen Sinks Awarded a Consumers Digest Best Buy
Kohler sails past competition in evaluations, winning six of nine Best Buys
KOHLER, Wis. – May 31, 2013 – Impressed by their quality of construction, variety of sizes and configurations, Consumers Digest awarded six Kohler Co. kitchen sinks with the coveted Best Buy seals of product value when reviewing kitchen sinks. A total of nine products received this award, with Kohler products outnumbering all other brands featured. The Best Buy designation is widely recognized by consumers to mean a product that offers outstanding value for its price.
"This is a real badge of honor for us as a company," commented Steve Bissell, vice president of kitchen and bath marketing for Kohler Co. "Consumers Digest is very discerning when it comes to awarding these product value designations, and to receive such extensive recognition – more than any other company – from its editors carries a lot of clout both in the industry and with customers."
The venerable Consumers Digest prides itself on thorough evaluation of the products it reviews. The consumer advocate publication aims to provide practical advice, evaluations and specific recommendations to consumers, reserving its Best Buy seal to those products the staff judges to deliver exceptional value for a given price. Its article on kitchen faucets and sinks appears in the March/April 2013 issue.
Among the six Best Buy products listed by the publication is the KOHLER Bellegrove enameled cast iron kitchen sink line, which was recognized for the line's corresponding accessories, such as the reversible basin racks and sponge caddy, among numerous aspects. The publication's editors also remarked that consumers "would have to pay $200 more to buy another enameled cast-iron sink that's this long and, therefore, large enough to fit oversize pots and pans."
The KOHLER Brookfield enameled cast iron sinks were also listed as a Best Buy, with the Consumers Digest editors touting the versatility of its deep basin and slim bowl divider that "produces extra space for dishes, pots and pans."
The KOHLER Delafield enameled cast iron sinks were also praised and noted for their affordability: "still is the lowest priced enameled cast-iron sink."
The STERLING Slope Vikrell kitchen sink was named for the solid surface economy selection, editors noting "you'd have to pay at least $100 more to buy another solid-surface sink that has this model's combination of a sloped center divider and slightly curved centers." The editors also commented that these features minimize splashes and make sink clean-up easier.
In the stainless steel category, KOHLER and STERLING brands took two of the three Best Buys. The KOHLER Vault stainless steel kitchen sink collection was highlighted for its versatile installation options (top-mount or undermount), bottom bowl rack that "you typically would have to pay at least $200 more to purchase in a stainless steel sink," and its low center divider, "a rare feature that allows you to more easily fit oversize pots and pans in the sink."
Also included is the entire STERLING Southhaven stainless steel kitchen sink line. The magazine praises this collection for being "available in more prepunched-hole configurations" and offers a longer warranty (lifetime) than other 20-gauge stainless steel sinks in this price range. The editors continue on to comment that they "like the Southhaven's curved rims, which you typically find only in sinks that cost at least $400."
