KOHLER, Wis. – April 24, 2012 – Addressing the need for Americans-with-Disability-Act-compliant products that go beyond the typical offering to combine great design aesthetics with functionality, Kohler Co. introduces the Vault ADA-compliant stainless steel kitchen sink.

The Vault's sleek, contemporary style offers a much higher-end design aesthetic than what some people view as typical for an ADA-compliant sink. Targeting homeowners who are looking to install an ADA-compliant kitchen sink, the fabricated Vault features tight corners and blends well with modern, contemporary kitchens. Additionally, the same sink unit can be installed as self-rimming or undermount (for undermount installation, counter top thickness cannot be greater than 1-inch for ADA compliance).

"Whether it's a laminate or solid surface countertop, the dual-mount installation makes the Vault sinks ideal for any kitchen setting and décor," says Adam Horwitz, director of Kohler kitchen products. "Its versatility allows homeowners to decide on installing either a self-rimming or undercounter model later in the kitchen remodel project, while trade professionals can simply stock one model, reducing the amount of space used on their supply trucks."

When installed as self-rimming, the sink's ledge is only 1.25 mm thick – about the thickness of a nickel – making the transition from sink to countertop appear seamless, and offering easy countertop clean-up.

Additionally, the rear-oriented drain locations on the 18-gauge stainless steel sinks maximize flat space in the basin and storage space under the counter. The sink's lowered saddle offers optimal water containment and prevents overflow, and SilentShield® deadening design muffles the clatter of dishes and noise of the disposal.

The Vault ADA-compliant sink is available as a single-bowl model – 25 by 22 by 6 inches – or as a double-equal bowl – 33 by 22 by 6 inches– and offers optional basin racks.

MSRP: Single-bowl $595, Double-equal $695
