KOHLER Moxie Showerhead + Wireless Speaker Wins Prestigious Industrial Design Award
The Industrial Designers Society of America recognizes the Moxie, the first showerhead of its kind to combine the delivery of water and music, with a 2013 Silver IDEA Award
KOHLER, Wis. – Dec. 19, 2013 – As a global leader in kitchen and bath design, Kohler Co. prides itself on bringing cutting-edge products to market—most recently the KOHLER Moxie Showerhead + Wireless Speaker, which easily and affordably streams music wirelessly into the shower via a Bluetooth-enabled device. Moxie's ground-breaking design earned it a 2013 Silver International Design Excellence Award from the Industrial Design Society of America.
"Moxie brings a new level of fun into the shower," says Gregory de Swarte, design studio manager for Kohler Faucets. "Before Moxie, bringing music into the shower meant settling for a complicated and underperforming shower radio or required a remodel with waterproof speakers. Moxie changes all of that with its great sound, affordable price and ultra-simple installation."
Among the nearly 700 finalist products considered, the KOHLER Moxie showerhead shined; the IDEA jury, comprised of 24 international design experts, honored it with a 2013 Silver IDEA Award. IDEA jury chair Thomas Overthun said submissions this year touched more on aspects of the user experience, "the best entries excelling with a consistent approach to hardware, interaction, digital and packaging design."
After a successful launch in November 2012, the KOHLER Moxie has become both a must-have home gadget and hot item on holiday gift lists. Kohler recently debuted the Moxie speaker in four different colors (sold separately: Navy, Chartreuse, Retro Blue and Cherry Red) and expanded the finish offering to four finishes (White, Polished Chrome, Oil Rubbed Bronze and Polished Nickel). "Moxie is only the beginning of something very new and exciting not only for Kohler, but for the end-user,"
de Swarte says. "We can't wait to share what's next."
