KOHLER, Wis. – November 26, 2007 – Kohler Co., a global leader in kitchen and bath design and technology recently announced its sponsorship of this year’s Charmin® Holiday Restrooms in New York City’s Times Square, by providing water-conserving toilets and faucets in the bathrooms.
“We are excited to partner with Procter & Gamble to demonstrate KOHLER plumbing
products, which are specifically designed to save water while remaining true to a singular level of quality for performance and design,” said Rob Zimmerman, senior staff engineer-water conservation, for Kohler. “Kohler seeks to offer the most choices in low-consumption products for both residential and commercial installations, and the Charmin Holiday Restrooms provide an incredible platform for us to advance our industry leadership in high-performing plumbing products.
The 20 public restrooms will feature the KOHLER Barrington™ Pressure Lite™ 1.1 gallons-per-flush (gpf) toilet, which utilizes one-half gallon less water than a standard toilet. The Barrington toilet carries the WaterSense label, which was developed earlier this year by the Environmental Protection Agency to encourage consumers to learn more about and purchase water-efficient products that perform as well as, or better than their less efficient counterparts. Consumers can be assured that WaterSense-labeled products have been tested to meet their needs for function and conservation.
All bathroom faucets are from the brand new KOHLER Margaux™ collection, featuring a joystick-style single control function for easy on-and-off and temperature control. Each of these 20 faucets feature low-flow aerators, taking the amount of water delivered from 2.2 gpm to 1.5 gpm. Paired with the KOHLER Parigi™ pedestal sinks, this faucet-sink combination is an ideal solution for smaller-sized bathrooms. Additionally, Kohler is providing Margaux decorative bathroom accessories, including robe hooks and wall sconces.
“The Kohler mission statement is to contribute to a higher level of gracious living for those who are touched by our products and services, and the Charmin Holiday Restrooms provide us with a platform to reach out to individuals during the holiday shopping season in Times Square,” added Zimmerman.
More than 420,000 people from 100 countries and all 50 states visited the Charmin Holiday Restrooms during the 2006 holiday season. The 2007 facilities will once again feature 20 restrooms, offering the convenience of easily accessible, family-friendly facilities at the crossroads of the world. Attendants are on staff to service and clean stalls after every use. The Charmin Holiday Restrooms open Nov. 19, and will be open daily through Dec 31.
“With such an overwhelming response from last year’s installment, we couldn’t wait to bring back the Charmin Holiday Restrooms to offer visitors the chance to rediscover Charmin and its two new offerings,” said Dennis Legault, brand manager for Charmin. “We’re also pleased to have high-quality KOHLER products inside the restrooms this year, as we provide weary shoppers and passersby with a relaxing, clean and easy place to take a break.”
